Entry no. 185 — Thu, Oct 1 · the side job

I shoot for fun.

..but you can always hire me

By day I'm a software engineer, building products for clients from wherever the wifi holds. The rest of the time I'm in the water with a camera. It's not my main job, so I only take the trips I'd want to be on anyway: surf camps, freediving retreats, dive boats.

A few series instead of a feed. Each one is a real day in the water, with what I shot it on and what it would look like delivered to you.

Series 01 · Ocean

Glass water 05:42

Paddled out at first light. Water was glass. Shot from inside the wave with the wide, the rest I just watched.

Breathe slower

Boat entries, breath-holds and the quiet bits in between. Black and white when the water is busy, colour when it is blue enough to earn it.

Series 03 · Surf

Both sides of the surface

One session, shot from on top of the water and from under it. I swim out with the housing and stay in the impact zone, so the riders never have to come to me.

the real edit is still on a hard drive. this is the drone, on repeat.

I like seeing a place from up there.

The drone comes on every trip, and most of the video I bring home is shot from the air: the lineup, the reef, the boat on the way out. From the water you get the wave. From up there you get the whole day.

If you want video from your trip, I cut it for wherever it is going to live, your feed or your website.
